In all the places where you say what each letter stands for, you've forgotten intersex!

It's May 29th, and it hasn't been fixed (in at least three places).

Do any of these charities work on behalf of intersex people? Or the asexual community?

Could you tell me where? I fixed it several times, but I'm sure some places have slipped through. There's a lot of text to go through.

Like I said on the charities page, I did a lot of research for every charity and these were the ones I found and knew of that were actually doing good for the community. If you know of any, please suggest them.

Sure!

1. The community profile (where "T" is also listed as "R" at the top).

2. The page that pops up on my friends' list with the logo and the button to repost -- I'm not sure where that is on this site.

The third one I saw today, on the FAQ page, it appears you've just fixed.

Like I said on the charities page, I did a lot of research for every charity and these were the ones I found and knew of that were actually doing good for the community. If you know of any, please suggest them.

I'm not saying you didn't do a lot of research -- I'm just asking which of the charities here work on behalf of the intersex and asexual communities, because I'm not immediately seeing any that do. (I'm ace myself -- I don't know of any charities which work on behalf of asexual people, unless it's through intersection with another identity.) I don't know what charities out there work on behalf of the intersex community, though they may exist.

I know you mean for this fundraiser to be inclusive -- which is awesome -- I'm just concerned that the description not say a fundraiser is to help groups that the listed charities don't actually help. So that's why I'm asking, do any of these charities work on behalf of the intersex or asexual communities? Or are you looking for charities that do...?

1) Fixed.

2) I had fixed that, but if people are reposting the version I didn't fix, well, i can't really help that. I fixed it where you repost directly from this comm though.

3) Yes, I caught that one while going back through to see where they were.

None of them outright say it and I did a Google search when I first set up the comm for asexual and intersex charities, but I found nothing except those already listed and I know they are limited. I do apologize that I couldn't find more, but that's why I left it open for the members to suggest their own charities because I was sure that someone knew of one that I had missed. As soon as I get the next round going, I will look for asexual and intersex specific charities to add to the list.

Thanks for the fixes!

I do apologize that I couldn't find more, but that's why I left it open for the members to suggest their own charities because I was sure that someone knew of one that I had missed. As soon as I get the next round going, I will look for asexual and intersex specific charities to add to the list.

I think it would be great if you could be clear about that on the site, that right now the charities serve [list] of populations, and that you are looking for suggestions for charities that support [list] of populations, and are looking to include them in the future, if not in this round, then in future rounds.

That way it's explained, and it doesn't look like any groups are being added only because including them in the list is "trendy" (not saying this is your intent, I'm saying this is how it could be read by people who are not LGB).

And then if if turns out that there aren't any charities out there that do support [X group], it's not a bad thing not to list them, and just to say that there currently aren't any charities that you know of that support that community.

My (very general) understanding is that there are Intersex organizations, but many of them are outside of the LGBT sphere. And I have no idea what charities serve the asexual population, even though I'm ace. (I should look this up!) My sense is that if we want to talk about stuff with a therapist, we need to look for an LGBT-friendly therapist and hope they "get it". There are a number of projects which have come out of the asexual community, though those aren't "charities".

The Trevor Project is apparently just getting around to including asexual people, though the challenges faced by asexual people are not the same as those faced by LGB people (with it noted that homoromantic and panromantic asexual people do exist). And Dan Savage has said some really problematic things about asexual people.

Anyway, that's just my two cents. ^_^

If you have a charity that isn't listed here, please comment here and tell us! We'll look it over and most likely add it to the list. We know there's a lot out there and, especially the international ones, we simply don't know them all.

Please put "Organization" in the subject line of your comment and leave the name of the charity, what country they are based in (language wise), what they focus on, and what they do to support the rainbow community and a link to the main page and the donation page of their site. If you have any experience with the organization personally, please leave that on there too.

That's what it says at the top of the organization page. So I think that covers me leaving it opn to suggestions and, in fact, many of these groups are suggestions and that no group is being included just because it's "trendy". I simply don't know all the charities. Hence why I ask for suggestions.

My sense is that if we want to talk about stuff with a therapist, we need to look for an LGBT-friendly therapist and hope they "get it". There are a number of projects which have come out of the asexual community, though those aren't "charities".

Well, this is for charities specifically, so I'm afraid those don't fit. I'm glad they're out there, but if they're not charities, then they won't be included.

Dan Savage is not a person I support at all. Just....I'd rather not have anything to do with him or his beliefs.

A quick Google search turned up this page for organizations around the world which work on behalf of the intersex community.

You may already know about this (apologies if you do), but there are also a number of reasons that many in the transgender community are angry at HRC. This is a lengthy summary of the issue (as of 2007). There's a lot out there on the internet from the years since then about HRC and ENDA, and some trans people have organized protests.

Thanks, I'll take a look at it and add the relevant info to the charities page.

I didn't know about this. I will definitely be taking HRC off the list. Thank you.

I'm curious... if I were to offer something up for auction, could I choose where the donations from my offering went?? I'm not real familiar with alot of the projects listed except the Trevor Project which I know from Dan's vocal support of it... I may help out anyways but was curious just the same

We would prefer that your donation go to an organization on the list we have just because we've already checked out these organizations and have made sure they're credible and respectable.

If you have any organizations you'd like to see added to that list, please feel free to comment on that post and share them with us. We're always looking for more places to add to give people a wide a variety as possible.

You can. You can have separate threads for them or you can add a quantity section in the header.

Are you going to be doing multiple rounds? I would love to try and contribute some fanfic, but I can't right now due to school responsibilities, but if another round came up I would be happy to. :)
